17.02.2017 MINOT, N.D. - The Minot Fire Department received two grants to help teach fire safety.
The Hess Corporation provided a $5,000 grant, and the Minot Area Community Foundation provided an additional $8,000 for a new digital fire extinguisher training system.
With it, the Fire Department can safely train people on how to extinguish a fire.
The new system, called BullEx is, designed to function exactly like an active fire.
"I mean, we see them everyday in our offices but how many times do we stop and think, you know, what would we do in that situation? This training aide will help them realize what they can do and how easy it actually is to use it," said Stuart Hammer, City of Minot fire inspector.
The Minot Fire Department is offering the training to groups free of charge.
